Rest and Play

Some of you may remember my post on kohona cats. These are a very rare breed, native (in a sense, at least) to Hawaii. Well, Tiffany saw this post, an wanted to send along a photo of her kitty. You've gotta love pet owner pride.

This sequence shows him at rest and at play. Tiffany, does he ever open his eyes? And what is he doing in the second photo? Is he really flipping us all off? Bad cat!

Thanks for the photos, Tiffany.

What, open his eyes and risk looking into a mirror? I wager not.

What's it like petting one of those? They loo like they'd be sticky/wet.. so when you try to pet them, their skin sticks to your hand so you smooth out the wrinkles.

They're disturbingly cute though.

I thought in order to be classified as a mammal one of the criteria was that it had to have at least a litle hair (like Killer Whales have whiskers), but that cat doesn't even appear to have those, so what the heck is it then?

Nothing Never said...

Wow, that is the ugliest cat I've ever seen! That is as ugly as Sam the ugliest dog!

Why so wrinkly? Are all cats that wrinkled under their fur? I've tried parting the hair on my cats to find these mysterious head wrinkles but have yet to see them.

I'd love to meet one of these cats. I'm terribly allergic to cats and I wonder if I could handle being in a room with one of these.

Kelly is right. Where are his whiskers?!

These guys have a mutation that makes them TRUELY hairless. No offense to the owner who loves him dearly but, these cats are not a healthy breed overall. I can't remember why but part of the mutation means they can't nurse properly, I believe. Not to be a nay-sayer. They've got really lovely eyes, when they open them. :p

I can understand loving a baby like that ;) I just don't think they are actually long for the world as a breed. *shrugs* I may be wrong.

I heard they are like petting warm rubber. ;)
